# Pharmacy technician Accuracy, people skills and a fast start.

Healthcare career profile

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists fill prescriptions, handle insurance, manage inventory and answer customers. You can often start with on-the-job training, which makes it one of the easiest healthcare jobs to get into.

In short

Pharmacy technicians usually need a high school diploma and learn on the job or through a short program, and many states require registration or certification. National certifications come from the PTCB and the NHA. The May 2025 median pay was $45,750, and BLS projects 6.4% growth from 2025 to 2035.

**Job numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics** Updated October 9, 2026. Pay figures are national medians and are not a promise of what you will earn.
