## The honest trade-off

Many helping jobs pay less than their importance deserves, especially early on. The highest-paid ones on this list usually take a two-year degree. If you want both meaning and a bigger paycheck, look at therapy assistants or respiratory therapy.

## Questions people ask

### What job helps people the most without a degree?

That is personal, but nursing, EMS and therapy assistant roles directly change patients' days.

### Are there helping jobs that are not in healthcare?

Yes: social and human service assistants, firefighters and community health workers.

### Do these jobs burn people out?

Some can. Good teams, reasonable hours and self-care matter.
