How it works

Three stops. The first one is this page. What happens when you fill out the form, and what never happens.

Free · About 2 minutes · You're in control

Most people looking for trade school have been burned by a website before — the ones that ask for everything, sell your number to anyone, and bury you in calls. Here's exactly what we do instead, in plain words.

  • The form is five questions. It takes about two minutes.
  • Your info goes only to schools that match what you picked.
  • You can stop replying to anyone, at any time, for any reason.

In short

You tell us what kind of work you want, how far you got in school, and how to reach you. We share your request with schools near your ZIP code that teach that kind of work, and they contact you with real details: cost, schedule, length. You compare, you visit, you pick one or pick none. Using this site costs you nothing — the schools pay us when you ask for information from them. Fill out the form whenever you're ready.

The three steps

Answer five quick questions

The kind of work you'd like, how far you got in school, your age and military status (the GI Bill can pay for most of this), when you'd want to start, and where to reach you. No essays. No test scores. Nothing about your income.

Schools near you reach out

One or more schools that teach what you picked will call, text, or email you, usually within a day. This is the part people worry about, so be ready: they want you to pick them, and they'll make their pitch. Ask them everything. You don't owe them anything.

Pick one, or pick none

Visit the school if you can. Get the total cost in writing. Ask what happened to last year's graduates. If it feels right, sign up. If it doesn't, walk away and keep looking — you can also ask us to match you again with different schools.

What we don't do

It's fair to be skeptical, so here it is straight:

  • We don't charge you anything, ever. The schools pay us when you ask them for information.
  • We don't sell your information to anyone besides the schools matched to your request. Not to lenders, not to "other education companies."
  • We don't rank the schools or take a side. We're not a school, and our list doesn't include every school in your area — so treat the calls as one input, and check community colleges yourself too.
  • We don't make the decision for you. No one here knows your life. You do.

What the schools will ask you

When a school calls, they'll ask about your schedule, your transportation, whether you have a diploma or GED, and how you're planning to pay. That last one is where you hold your ground: tell them you want the full cost in writing, what grants you might qualify for, and the total after aid. A good school answers without hesitation. If the person on the phone pushes you to commit the same day or won't put costs in writing, that tells you what you need to know — hang up and keep looking.

Ready when you are.

Five questions, about two minutes. Schools near you take it from there.

Questions people ask

Is this really free?

Yes. You never pay us. Schools pay us when you ask them for information, the same way a job board gets paid by employers. The school's price is the same whether you find it through us or walk in off the street.

Who sees my information?

The schools matched to your request — the ones that teach what you picked near your ZIP code. That's it. Our privacy policy spells out the details, and you can use the "Do not sell or share my information" page anytime.

Will someone pressure me?

Schools will call because you asked them to, and yes, some will push. You can say no, ask for time, or stop answering. If a school behaves badly, tell us and we'll drop them from our matches.

What if I have no idea what I want to do?

Pick "Not sure yet" on the form. That's a real answer, not a failure. You'll hear from schools that teach several kinds of work, and you can read the career pages here — most people settle on something after ten minutes of honest reading.

Can I do this without giving my phone number?

The form needs a way for schools to reach you — that's the whole point. If you're not ready for calls, use your email and note on the form that you prefer email. If you're not ready at all, the career and paying-for-school pages are here to read, free, no form required.
